Parking, Driving Directions and Campus Map

Location of Symposium: Conference Room A, Carnegie Building, Howard University, Washington, DC

Parking

Parking on campus is limited. Meter parking is available on some streets on campus (look for the meters), and on streets near campus. There is typically a 4-hour meter limit.  It is possible to obtain a visitor parking permit from the Howard University Parking Office, but this might not be worth the effort since the Parking Office may not be open yet when you arrive.

Traveling by Metrorail

A good way to arrive on campus is by metrorail, as there is a station only about a fifteen minute walk away. Take the green line to the Shaw-Howard U. station. Exit the station from the 7th Street/Georgia Avenue exit and proceed straight ahead (north) on 7th Street, which becomes Georgia after Florida Avenue. You will cross Florida, and then W Street and Bryant Street. At Georgia and Bryant, there is a Starbucks Coffee shop. Continue walking up the hill on Georgia. You will pass a number of restaurants and shops on your right. When you get to Howard Place, turn right. Walk up the hill, cross 6th Street, and walk past the wrought-iron gates of the university. The first building on your left in the quadrangle will be the Carnegie Building (see the campus map linked below). The symposium was held in Conference Room A.
